Dr. Jeffrey Britton, M.D.
Professor in Neurology
Chair of the Division of Epilepsy
Dr. Britton was born and raised in the state of Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa for undergraduate and medical school. He completed his residency in Neurology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and remained on staff first as a general neurologist. He subsequently did a Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship concentrated in EEG and subsequently joined the Epilepsy division. He subsequently became co-chair of the two-month resident CNP course, then became CNP fellowship and subsequently Epilepsy fellowship program director. He currently serves as the Epilepsy Division chair.
He became interested in autoimmune epilepsy through his instincts as a clinician that to deliver the most effective therapy, one needs to direct treatment at the etiology when possible. He has been fortunate to work adjacent to the Autoimmune Neurology division, a situation that fosters an environment of close collaboration and clinical synergy for patients afflicted with these conditions.
